Surtax Relief: The Lifting of Both U.S. Surtax & Canadian Countermeasures

The U.S. and Canada has come to an agreement to lift U.S. Section 232 tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum, as well as Canada's retaliatory countermeasures.

Announced in the notice by the Minister of Finance on May 20, 2019, the Canadian countermeasures against imports from the U.S. on steel, aluminum, and other products under Table 1, 2 and 3 have been repealed, and no longer have surtaxes effective May 19, 2019.
