Canada’s Path to End Surtax on Steel Imports

Here at JORI International Ltd., we strive to keep you informed with the latest news that has been reported.  Just this week, according to Bennett Jones, Canada has ended surtax on certain steel imports but launches consultations on other protection.

 

Furthermore, the Government of Canada discontinued its 25% provisional safeguard surtax as of Monday, April 29, 2019 which was imposed on steel imports since October 25, 2018.  The Government is also coming to terms on the definitive safeguard measures, refunds on provisional safeguard surtaxes as well as the next steps toward future trade remedy proceedings.
